Sharp has unveiled a DVD recorder with HDD and VCR functions and planned to produce 20,000 units per month. Available in 400GB, 250GB, and 160GB configurations, the DVD recorder can be boot-up within one second, much faster than the existing models which take 20 seconds to start up. This is the first time that such an instantaneous starting mode, which has been incorporated in Sharp's high-end HD DVD recorders, appears in a standard DVD model.
